WE RECEIVED THIS NOTE FROM A RECENT CLIENT OF OURS AND IT RAISES SOME QUESTIONS THAT NEED TO BE ASKED: "I recently listed my home with CAMERON REALTY GROUP INC. after I had a friend recommend them. I had used another discount real esate company in Calgary and while they advertised that I would save thousands of dollars in real estate commissions my house didn't sell. I then became double mortgaged as I had bought a new house so now I was carrying two mortgages! I was very stressed and couldn't sleep nights. The discount realtor that I was using just said that a buyer will eventually come along and that I just needed to be patient. My friend recommended I contact Dory Cameron who had published a book on houses she had sold that other realtors couldn't sell. I contacted Dory and she met me the next day. She gave me a list of houses that had sold while mine had been on the market. Some of the realtors who showed my place had their clients buy other houses instead. I was livid. Dory gave me some staging suggestions too - things I had never thought of. She showed me how I would save thousands using her services and within 24 hours my house was on the market and sold 7 days later at the EXACT SAME PRICE the other realtor had my house listed at! I found out that the reason my house didn't sell was that I didn't offer 3.5% of the first $100,000 and 1.5% of the remainder of the sale price which is what all the other houses in my area were giving the buyer's realtor. Because I didn't do this, the realtors showed my house but never encouraged their buyers to buy it! I know that it wasn't the price I was asking but that it was important to pay the buyer's realtors the exact same commission that they would be making if they sold any of the other houses in my area. Apparently my house was helping all the other homes to sell. Dory was honest and upfront with how real estate commissions worked. I couldn't believe the other discount realtor didn't say this! I wasted so much time. I think one of the reasons she works so hard to sell houses is because its her company and her name is on the sign. I appreciated that I didn't get the run-around on what it would take to sell my house. I got straight-forward information that was bang-on. If I would have received the truth from the beginning, I would have saved myself from carrying two mortgage payments. My friend feels the same way about the way Dory is honest and straight-forward. I will be putting her name on my company's corporate classified ads for anyone wanting to use her services. " C. Spina
